Relocation Case Study

This 35,000 life employer moves around 700 associates on a domestic basis each year. In addition, they move about 150 associates internationally.

The relocation program had most recently been to market in 2008, the result of which was that they stayed with the incumbent.

Havens & Company’s review of the employer’s Relocation Program indicated it was significantly overpriced in comparison to the savings that could be generated through moving to the Havens & Company/Graebel Aggregated Relocation Program. In addition to the financial savings, the employer was guaranteed that:

  • Their employees would experience minimal disruption; and,
  • The switch would require little effort on the part of the employer.

The employer was presented with annual savings of about $2.1M off from their Current Annual Spend of $17.9M. The largest spend categories were also the largest areas of savings:

Savings Chart

ESTIMATED CURRENT ANNUAL SPEND HAVENS/GRAEBEL PROGRAM SAVINGS SAVINGS AS A% OF THE CURRENT SPEND
Annual Household Goods Moving $10,250,000 $1,537,500 15%
Storage $3,300,000 $330,000 10%
Relocation Service Fees $1,700,000 $153,000 9%

In addition to the financial savings available through the Havens & Company/Graebel Program, the employer would not only have access to Graebel's quality of services that is second to none accoring to HRO Today's 2010 and 2011 Baker's Dozen Relocation Surveys; but, the employer would also have access to unique service enhancements only offered to Havens & Company clients:

  • Innovative Pre-Decision Assessment service; and
  • Executive Concierge service for the executives and VIPs relocating.
